They have been funding Lurie Children’s for more than a decade, and - over the years - have developed a mission-aligned partnership, focused on enhancing access to Lurie Children’s outstanding care.

Arrupe College
2024 Grantee Spotlight
Named after Pedro Arrupe, a Jesuit priest who worked to alleviate poverty and eradicate racial discrimination, Arrupe College was founded by Loyola University Chicago – a long-time partner of Schreiber Philanthropy – to provide debt-free higher education to students with limited financial means.
Northern Illinois Food Bank (NIFB)
2024 Grantee Spotlight
Schreiber Philanthropy’s support of Northern Illinois Food Bank (NIFB), which works to provide nutritious food and resources for neighbors with dignity, equity, and convenience, increased in 2020 in response to the drastic increase in need during the pandemic. Then, in 2021 – after thoughtful collaboration and creative ideation – Schreiber Philanthropy proudly supported NIFB’s “big idea” to scale their pilot program called My Pantry Express (MPX).
Lake County Community Foundation

The Lake County Community Foundation (LCCF) focuses on addressing current community issues, and anticipating new ones, to ensure a thriving Lake County now and for years to come. LCCF has been part of Schreiber Philanthropy’s grantee portfolio since 2005.

Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago has been a Schreiber Philanthropy grantee for nearly two decades. Their work spans across the Chicagoland region and straddles multiple areas of aligned focus, including immigrant justice, housing, and basic human needs.
RefugeeOne
2024 Grantee Spotlight
RefugeeOne became a Schreiber Philanthropy grantee in 2019. Their work to create opportunities and welcoming communities for refugees fleeing war, terror and persecution, and their focus on supporting individuals as they build new lives of safety, dignity and self-reliance, resonates deeply with Schreiber Philanthropy’s mission and values.
National Immigrant Justice Center (NIJC)

Since 2009, the National Immigrant Justice Center (NIJC) has been a key partner in Schreiber Philanthropy’s immigrant justice work. NIJC, which is focused on ensuring human rights protections and access to justice for all immigrants, refugees and asylum seekers, has been providing direct legal services and advocating for vulnerable populations since 1984.
Mano a Mano Family Resource Center

Since 2019, Mano a Mano Family Resource Center has been a critical partner for Schreiber Philanthropy on immigrant justice work in Lake County and beyond. Mano a Mano, which is focused on empowering immigrant families to become full participants in their communities, has been an invaluable resource for families and other community-based organizations.
Transform Capital

As Schreiber Philanthropy has grown, it has identified newer, in-mission partners with innovative approaches to long-standing challenges. Transform Capital is a volunteer-led, non-profit, low-cost business and mortgage lender, focused on creating a community ecosystem designed to lift up and learn from community members.
ReNew Communities

After meeting ReNew Communities for the first time in 2019, John and Kathy were impressed. This small-but-mighty organization, which focuses on transforming the lives of families in North Chicago through affordable home ownership, was changing the game for North Chicago residents one home (and eventually one block) at a time.
Mercy Housing

For two decades, Schreiber Philanthropy supported Mercy Housing Lakefront, formerly known as Lakefront Supportive Housing. Mercy Housing Lakefront is the Great Lakes region’s largest nonprofit provider of service-enriched housing.
Lawndale Christian Health Center

In 2014, John and Kathy were introduced to the amazing leaders, physicians, nurses, and staff at Lawndale Christian Health Center in North Lawndale. Their goal is to provide exceptional care for their community, in spite of the socioeconomic and racial disparities that have plagued North Lawndale and its neighboring communities.
Josselyn
2024 Grantee Spotlight
Josselyn provides inclusive mental health care for anyone in need, especially people who’ve historically had difficulty accessing it. Their work is deeply aligned with Schreiber Philanthropy’s values, and the organization has been in our portfolio since 2017.
